Speaker 1:

It's time to wake up witches. I'm your host, kat Adams, and I'm here to remind you that, no matter where you're at in life, you're not stuck. Good morning, it is a Saturday and it is a little after seven. I got up early because I have been so wiped out at night. I don't know what's going on with me. I think I went to bed at like 830 last night on our freaking Friday. But that's life these days. I am just drained a lot, but I'm feeling a lot better. I'm feeling a lot better. I'm doing some stuff, y'all. I'm getting it. I'm getting a girl, but anyways, who's that going to say?

Speaker 1:

Oh, so this is the season to treat yourself and this is. I talk about this a lot. I think I might have a problem. I do this a lot. I'm like I deserve this. I need to celebrate this because I have a lot in my life to celebrate, and I bet you do too, if you really think about it.

Speaker 1:

So I had for breakfast and I'm going to butcher the name of this, but it's called like a oh my gosh, I don't know a Chateau Busk or something. It was a Spice Omen Prylene and it's basically it looks like a flourless chocolate cake and it's from Dandelion Chocolate and I went there when I was in San Francisco and I was like, oh my gosh, the best chocolate I've ever had. And so I was like I'm going to order some for myself for Christmas. And I started looking on their website and I was like, oh my gosh, this looks amazing. It looks so fudgy and rich and it had cardamom in it and it's like praline and oh my gosh, and it was amazing. And, yes, I ate a fudgy chocolate thing for breakfast and it was glorious. And you can do that because we're all adults here and do what you want, live your life the way you want, and I like to live my life without the restriction of dessert for breakfast. And we're going to be talking about a lot of treat yourself stuff today and celebrating you and how far you've come this year.

Speaker 1:

But before that, I need to give you a huge apology, because I was looking on my the website that hosts my podcast and I was like, oh my gosh, I didn't post a podcast that first week of December. I could have swore I had one scheduled y'all, but I did not, because I know I've been saying, oh, I'm taking the week of the 25th Christmas off. I'm taking that week off and y'all instead. I just brain farted and I did not give y'all an episode on the fourth and I am so freaking sorry. I had two of them booked but I just skipped over that day so I've had to do some rearranging on my podcast schedule. But again, I am so freaking sorry.

Speaker 1:

This week the episode was supposed to be about accountability and internalized misogyny, but I am bumping that to January actually, because I thought what I'm going to talk about now is actually I need to get this out before you know the new years, before you celebrate you. Actually, I lied, last week was supposed to be about accountability and then I bumped the Yule one up. So the one you listened to last week about Yule celebrations and how you know you can celebrate if you're stuck in a toxic relationship celebrating the holidays that was supposed to go up today but I just switched them stuff up cuz I was like why would I last minute put that out when I'm giving in like tips on celebrating for the holidays and decorating? They need to know that in advance. Yeah, I got a lot on my head. I'm just saying basically a screwed up. So in the next few episodes, down weird and like all over the place with dates. It's because I fucked up, but I'm telling y'all now and apologize, and because when you hear this episode, it will be my last until January 1st. So this one should be going out on the 18th so you can get ready for your new year, new Year celebrations.

Speaker 1:

I'm taking next week off. There will not be an episode for the 25th. Go enjoy time with yourself, your family, your kids, your cats, your plants, and then January 1st, you're going to hear me back and talking about the glow up. I have been working on, which, if you had watched my Instagram stories, yes, I said I took a social media break and it's been going pretty well. I do post occasionally on my story still, but I have not really been scrolling at all and it's been great and so far, so good. But I will share those tips with you in the new year. So let's get along now and let's start talking about my routine, what I do to set myself up for the new year, and I think it's amazing tips, because I think you would find value in it as well.

Speaker 1:

So first let me say, if you are not following Francesca Amber on the Law of Attraction, change my Life podcast has my favorite podcast. It should be recommended on my page. I think she holds like a New Year's party and I went last year and it was absolutely amazing. It was so much fun and I gained so much insight from it. I definitely recommend going to that. I don't know if she still has the tickets on sale, but you might want to go check that out. It was a lot of fun.

Speaker 1:

I'm not doing it this year because she's holding it on my 40th birthday and my 40th birthday y'all. I'm going to be eating steak and enjoying the luxury and festivities in New York City. Yelp, your girl is going to live a lavish life. For I think, what is it? Four days In NYC right after Christmas, because I don't want to turn 40 in Tennessee and I need to go into my 40s with, like fucking I was going to say big dick energy, but we don't glorify mills here big coochie energy. I don't know, I'm trying to think it could get really wrong. Let's just say massive feminine, badass bitch energy. Okay, I have to, y'all. I have to because it's the 40s and you know how scary that is. So I'm so freaking excited. That's another reason why I'm taking that week off because I need to get my shit together and learn like, oh my gosh, what do I need? I bought a parka. The other day Costco had them on sale for like $35. I bought my cell phone, bought my daughter one. I bought some of those hot hands because I heard it's cold.

Speaker 1:

So we're going to be like packed up, wrapped up like you know, we live in igloos or something and just enjoying lots of New York pizza. I've got reservations at Budakon, wanted to go there. I got reservations at La Grande Boucherie I'm probably butchering that spelling that steakhouse it's Keens, I think. Oh my God, I got tickets. I got tickets to Harry Potter, the cursed child, and I got really good seat. Y'all Like I'm freaking excited.

Speaker 1:

This is, yeah, I kind of splurged a little bit. Look, remember I told you I have a problem with treating myself, but this was also the Christmas present. It's our family Christmas present because you know I think I've talked about it before we just do different traditions and we're trying this year a tradition of travel because we love traveling instead of gift giving. We're still giving each other a little bitty gifts, but this is our main gift. Is who wouldn't want to see New York City and all the festivities and beautiful lights Like, oh my God, I'm excited. So that's why I am not going to be around and I hope I know I'm talking about this glow up. I hope all that pizza and cocktails doesn't fuck it up. I hope I walk it off because I know we'll be walking a lot. Apparently, that's what everybody does up there.

Speaker 1:

So let's get on with the show. I know I'm rambling, but let's talk about obviously treating yourself and celebrating you. Now I have been preparing for the new year and this little celebration of me and it's easy for me also because, like it's Christmas and then it's my birthday and then it's New Year, so I like give myself permission to just go all out, right, but you can too. You don't have to have a birthday thrown in there. But I have been doing this on actually Thanksgiving week because I'm off.

Speaker 1:

Some days starting that week I'm just closed and my husband is usually out of town, busy and family, and so I have downtime and time to really focus on New Year's goals and reflect back on my year. Now a lot of people do that right after Christmas because you have that, you know, glow and it's just like those really weird days between Christmas and New Year's and everybody's like I don't know what to do with myself. So that's also a great day, a great time to plan in, like the traditional time to plan, I guess, your new year. But I plan mine early. So I've had all this stuff figured out for a while now and let me tell you what I do, so maybe you can incorporate some of these traditions into your life.

Speaker 1:

And the number one thing is I have one notebook solely dedicated to each year's reflections. So at the end of the year I will reflect on everything from the year that I accomplished and I'll also go back and I'll look to see if that's what I wanted to accomplish. Now, funny enough, let me tell you when I did this this year. So this is crazy. So I did this this year and I was looking back to what I had planned for my year, and at the end of the year I planned big celebration in New York City. I forgot about that. I totally forgot about that.

Speaker 1:

And when my husband kept bringing up New York City for my birthday and I never even mentioned that to anybody y'all my husband kept bringing up New York City for my birthday and my daughter because she wanted to go over the summer and I was like, no, I don't want to be in crowds, you know, I want to go to like the beach or the mountains, yada, yada, yada. And so we didn't. We didn't think we were going to do it. It was kind of a last minute decision because I didn't want to do it. And then just something clicked in my head and I'm like you know what, I'm gonna try it out, I'm gonna do it, and I got excited about it. So when I was going looking through like my stuff from last year that I wrote down I said big celebration in New York City, I was like what the flip? I don't even remember writing that. That's really not like me, because I do like beach and mountains and cannot stand crowds. It was weird and I was like I'm a subconsciously manifested it.

Speaker 1:

It's interesting, though, to see when you go back in your notebook and you see all the hopes and dreams you had at the beginning of the year. Then you can reflect on if you achieve those or if you're a big fat failure and you can just be like all right, I'm gonna do better next year or I'm gonna kill it again next year, you know, and I'll see your sense. Be kind to yourself. If you didn't hit those goals, it's okay. Guess what you can try again. There is no limits on how many times you get to get back up again.

Speaker 1:

So I was looking at my stuff and there's some things that I achieved and there's some things I didn't achieve. But you know what? That's fine. It's going on the list again this year. Some of it I was reading. I was like one of it. I'll just tell y'all. One of it was because you know, I've talked about me gaining like an extra 10 pounds over the past two years. Now was like when I get 40, these 10 pounds are going to be off and I'm going to be like best shape ever bought. No, did not happen. It's getting there. It's getting there. That's why I'm talking about my glow up is getting there. But it's been a struggle and I have succeeded in other areas of my life. It's just taken my time, and that's okay, because not everything's going to fall into place all at once.

Speaker 1:

So what I want you to do is have a notebook that you keep solely for this purpose, that you keep for writing every year your intentions for the new year. But before you do that. I need you to take some time and make a ritual out of this. Do it in the bathtub. Actually did it in the bathtub. I lit some candles and I had, like my notebook and my pen and I had my diffuser with the one I'm smelling now, the oil I'm smelling now and that is like a redwood knock turn or whatever. It's pretty good. It does not really smell of foresty, but I was going for like foresty vibes because y'all know my biggest dream is to move to Oregon, so that goes on like top of my list every year.

Speaker 1:

But, yeah, make a whole ritual out of it. Pour yourself some coffee or some wine or some tea, get cozy and just make sure you have peace and quiet and you're gonna be undisturbed, because I need your full attention, your full focus on you and I want you to start writing yourself a letter, and this is a thank you letter to you for all your hard work you did this year and some stuff you're gonna be like when you start reflecting. You'll be like oh yeah, I forgot, in January I got lip injections. I've always wanted to get lip injections. Put lip injections on there. This doesn't have to be shit, like I volunteered for a homeless shelter Although if you did that, that's awesome. Put that in there. But little things that you've been wanting, things that make you feel good about yourself, put it in there.

Speaker 1:

So I need you to go through every single month, slowly Remember everything you did, thank you. Thank you, kat, for taking so much time for you this year and all your vacations. Thank you, kat, for reserving money to spend with your family on these vacations so you can have quality time away from home. Thank you, kat, for expanding your knowledge in this niche so that you can spread the word to others. Thank you, kat, for Volunteering. I did do that y'all I have been doing that and I am expanding my horizons in the next year with that. Thank you, cat, for launching a podcast and Spreading the good news and the word that you're not stuck. And my power went out and I almost lost this entire episode. Oh my gosh. No, thank you to the power grid in Tennessee that seems to Just go off line whenever a freaking sparrow farts. So Back to thinking yourself and all that good juju Is. That put me in a pissy mood. I did lose a lot. It was like 10 minutes, all right, we're back to thinking ourselves. Nothing too big, nothing too small.

Speaker 1:

What did you learn this year? We learned All sorts of stuff Like think yourself for empowering yourself for even listening to the podcast or reading the book or any book. It doesn't have to be my book, it doesn't have to be my path, my podcast, you know. We learned different things, though on this podcast and if you stuck around which you should, and I highly recommend, if you have not, going back and listen to the episodes. We learned about loving ourselves, lots of self-care, romanticizing your life, achieving many, many, many different things. Manifestation, love it one of my favorite things. Talk about love, attraction, visualization. We did some petty stuff that felt oh so amazing. We learned about all different types of abuse so we can recognize it in ourselves and our friends and our loved ones. We learned a lot and, if anything, think yourself for that, because now that you have all that knowledge, you can do amazing things with it. So think yourself for everything you've done for you and for others, and I want you to reflect On all the good stuff. We're not talking about the bad stuff.

Speaker 1:

Maybe you didn't want to lose 10 pounds this year and you didn't. Don't beat yourself up over it. Just get up and try again. It's okay, life happens. I'm one of those people who does not like I'm not the type that says I'm gonna Start my diet Monday and it's like Thursday. Now I start at Thursday and I highly recommend adopting that mindset Because I know real life happens. There's gonna be setbacks. I'm not gonna make something on a date where I need to, you know, or if I don't, I have this extra cushion. So Get on it now. And I like that's been a game changer for me Because it allows me to give myself grace, and you got to give yourself grace. So don't think about Anything. You didn't get in a negative way. Just think about it as you're one step closer Now.

Speaker 1:

You know we need to focus your attention, or you know a better way to get there, because you armed yourself with knowledge this year and I want you to give yourself this credit, even if you're into the woo-hoo juju and you like you know the universe has helped you and our god. Or you know, maybe you pray to god or I don't know a deity. I don't know what you're doing over there, but I need you to also recognize you. There's a quote from I think it's Rummy. I always pronounce stuff wrong, are you, mi Rummy Rumi?

Speaker 1:

I love this quote and he says you are not a drop in the ocean. You are the ocean and a drop and I need you to know that, like you have this magic in you. You have these amazing, great things in you. Look at all you've done, look at all you will do, look at how you're going to grow. Oh, you have this inside you and I need you to See it, recognize it, appreciate it, value it, guard it. Don't ever forget it.

Speaker 1:

So this is why we do the exercise where we think ourselves, because a lot of our jobs, especially if you're mom, those are thankless jobs, you know. And if you're, especially if you're a single mom, who's building you up? You know who's making you feel good. You are, you are now and you always should be. Whether you're a single mom or not, whether you're surrounded by a loving family, you still need to build yourself up and you still need to recognize how valuable you are. And that's why we do this exercise of thanking you for being you and doing the hard work, and then Next year, you're gonna go back and you're gonna read it and you're gonna be like, wow, I've grown so much, look at all I accomplished last year. But look at I all I accomplished this year and I want you to put everything in it. Did you go on vacation? Did you buy something you've been wanting to buy for a long time? Maybe you bought a new car, maybe you bought a house, maybe you got out of debt? Put it all in there. You know, even if you just took implemented, like a daily walk or Watching the sunrise a couple times a year, I don't care what it is. Whatever makes you feel good. Put it all in there and give yourself the credit for doing Doing the shit. Y'all did the shit. So after you do that, I want you to set your intentions for next year, and again You're gonna write yourself a letter and you're gonna say cap, last year was absolutely amazing. I learned so much. I am so grateful. Remember, you got to practice that gratitude.

Speaker 1:

Next year, I look forward to Taking two more vacation suspend quality time with my family. I look forward to Looking at property so I can buy my dream home. Whatever you're looking for to, I look forward to publishing a book. I look forward to, uh, looking for a new job and gaining a new job. I'm not doing that. So if any of my co-workers are listening, I did not mean that that was an example. Seriously, I love my job.

Speaker 1:

I have to put that disclaimer in here because I think I have some sneaky snake co-workers who have found my pen name In our listening and if you are, you're a dirty heathen but I like it. So, yeah, whatever you want, it's you know, it's the new year's new. You go bullshit, right. If you want to lose 10 pounds, put that in there, say you look forward to it, you're committed to it, use that language. You have to use strong language, not like I hope I won't. Nah, bitch, you will. You commit, and then you got yourself set up for the new year and you don't have to do it all at once. One of the reasons I recommend that um francesca amber thing is because you know she puts her goals like different times of the year. So you're not like working at all the goals all the times of the year, and most of them are at the beginning of the year, in the middle, so you can celebrate and you can do the wintering turning in thing, which I've always done, and I slow down in the wintertime because I get all my shit done in the spring and summer months and I highly recommend that as well.

Speaker 1:

I have a calendar, an old school paper calendar. I have been using them for over 10 years. My favorite ones come from Erin Condren I think it's spelled C-O-N-D-R-E-N. They're a little bit expensive but they've been my favorite. I've used so many different calendars. I have this witchy one this year I used, but it's not spiral bound and I like something spiral bound so I can like keep it open, and it has, like the moon phases and stuff. So if that's your thing also, you know there's plenty of those online Going Etsy, going Amazon. It's got like. You know it'll mark the full moons on this day, or moons in retrograde on this day. I freaking love it and I, when I do this whole ritual where I'm writing these letters to myself, I set my calendar up and I say I'm gonna do this goal in this month, this goal in this month, by this month. I better have a lot of this much weight by this month. You know I better be going on a vacation. I need to go to Turks and Caicos by this month, yada, yada, yada, and it just makes things a lot more organized and I love being organized and having a schedule. So spend time really reflecting on the past and on what you want in the future. Ahead and write it down, show your gratitude and start taking action to plan your glow up in 2024, whatever that looks like for you. And then, last but not least, we're getting back to the TREAT JOE self.

Speaker 1:

I was gonna say I make one symbolic purchase for myself, but that's a lie. I make plenty of symbolic purchases for myself, but the most important one, I feel like for me is I buy myself and this might not be your thing, and that's fine. I buy myself a piece of jewelry every year and that jewelry has some kind of intention behind it. It does not have to be expensive, okay. So last year I was trying to figure out what I wanted to buy as a symbolization of my goals next year, and I wear these bracelets, and these bracelets are like three years old. I'll wear those every day and it's like a abundance bracelet. I've talked about it before. Abundance bracelet 1111. It's got one that's like forest moss agate, whatever, and that's just like my WuWuJuJu crystal bracelets.

Speaker 1:

But I wanted a necklace. But I wanted a necklace that would help me with some of my intentions for 2023. And I was playing around with some Oracle cards and I pulled one and it was like the crystal amatrine, and it was like having the strength to get over bad habits and I had quite a few bad habits in 2023 that I really wanted to get rid of. So I was like, oh my gosh, I didn't even know this was a crystal. I'm gonna get it.

Speaker 1:

Let me read you about amatrine real quick, because I think a lot of people might like this and I've never heard of it. So it is a gemstone that is a natural blend of two distinct minerals, amethyst and citrine, which are like two of my favorites, right? This combination results in a crystal that exhibits both the purple of amethyst and the yellow of orange of citrine in the same stone. So the properties are basically everything amethyst and citrine, which citrine is like prosperity, abundance. It's a let's see what is it Wealth, yada, yada, yada. All that good shit everybody wants, and the name of this is like stress relief, calm, emotional balance, mental clarity, spiritual growth. Also, citrine does amatrine with all that. Amatrine is all this, but citrine, specifically, is, like you know, energizing, inspiring. This is just it's the perfect stone, it is the perfect stone.

Speaker 1:

So I was like, oh my gosh, I'm so glad I picked up that Oracle card. Now let me go buy me an amatrine necklace. Got on Etsy and that is the necklace. Y'all probably seen it a million times in my photos this past year. It's just a beautiful, purplish, goldish, yellow, little rough cut gemstone that I wear every single day and I've added to it. I picked up a little evil eye trinket in San Francisco. I put that on there. I got this really cool looking charm. That's like it looks like a handheld mirror and it's got a skull in it and like the reflection. And then you turn it over and the back of the mirror says look within. It's badass. I cannot remember the place I got that. Oh my gosh, I ordered it offline.

Speaker 1:

I just, yeah, I keep a charm in my crystals or whatever near and dear to me, close to my heart and nowhere in my room every day and it reminds me of those things that I wanted to get in 2023. And it's just like. Also, you know, when I buy that, it's like a treat yourself, that's your celebration, you deserve it and it sets me up for the new year. Now, this year I was looking at some other ones and I wasn't quite sure what I wanted this year, but I knew I wanted a larmar because it's such a beautiful stone. And is it a gemstone crystal? I don't know. But I have a piece like a rough cut piece on my desk. I look at and it just looks like you're gazing down into an ocean and there's all these rocks in there. So it looks. It reminds me of the beach in Oregon, like with the smokestacks and stuff.

Speaker 1:

So it's like, oh my gosh, I want a piece of larmar and larmar L-A-R-I-M-A-R. I want that in jewelry form and I'm getting ready to stop wearing my bullhorn ring. You may have noticed that too. I've been wearing that for several years. That was something about for myself again, because I was like congratulations, you published Josie Thatcher Cowboy Catcher. If you have not read that book, it's freaking hilarious. It's one of my favorite books I wrote outside of the Fritzi Cox series. I think it's probably one of the best books I've written and I was so proud of it.

Speaker 1:

So I got this like cowgirl ring, even though I'm nothing at all like a cowgirl and I wear it every day and I'm like it's time to retire it. I want a larmar, larmar, larmar ring. And so I started looking it up and I found this company called Dune Jewelry and they will make custom jewelry for you and they do have the larmar stones. But y'all, this is amazing, I'm so freaking excited about it. I haven't got it yet. I ordered it, though they will put custom sand in there from like basically anywhere in the world. And I was like, oh, I can have a larmar ring and they have sand like a little globes next to the gemstone with whatever sand you want in it. And so I was like, oh yeah.

Speaker 1:

So I started looking at Oregon sand, because this is also part of my manifestation stuff. I do y'all know it's you know goals, right, getting over there, getting to the West Coast. So I was checking out what kind of sand they had from what beaches and they freaking had my favorite beach and I have some of the best Freakin memories these past two years on that beach and it was secret beach and it was not an easy beach to get to. But if you're ever in Oregon, oh my gosh, go to secret beach. I was like what they got a secret beach sand. Like that's Crazy, because it's secret beach, right, it's like because it's not so well-known that's probably more well-known now but like, oh my gosh.

Speaker 1:

So I got a ring coming with a larmar crystal, jimstone, whatever it is and the secret beach sand. And if you haven't seen what this one looks like, look it up. This so it's only found Laura Mars, only found in the Dominican Republic. It's a rare blue stone believed to embody the tranquil energies of the sea and sky. It's associated with soothing emotions, enhancing communication and fostering relaxation. Hey, we all need some of that. Check it out is one of the prettiest stones I've ever seen.

Speaker 1:

Now I also was gonna be like I thought I wanted garden quartz, because I just now discovered garden quartz this year. I was like, oh, that's beautiful. That looks like something I want. Looks like kind of like that moss ag I get. Is it agate or agate? I don't freaking know I'm horrible at that, y'all don't judge me but I thought I wanted that. But no, this just came to me. So check out dune jewelry if you want anything like with some sand in it from like one of your favorite beaches, just to remind you of memories or to help you in your manifestation journey.

Speaker 1:

Now, real quick, I wanted to touch on a couple of a couple of crystals that you might like, if this is your thing, that you want to, you know, buy yourself a little small piece of jewelry as a treat yourself gift. I mean, there's all kinds of options. I treated myself with chocolate, y'all. I treated myself with this red Light mask that's supposed to like prevent HG. That was expensive. I treat myself to a lot of things, but it's that symbolic purchase that you're setting up for, not only celebrating yourself this year, but setting yourself up for next year too, and I always love that in the form of a crystal that I can wear every single day to remind me to stay on track. And so let me I know I'm talking really fast because it's getting to be long, y'all. I've been talking too much on these Let me tell you about a couple crystals that might help you in your journey if you are feeling, you know, stuck in a situation, and this one is Exactly for that.

Speaker 1:

It's carnealion. So it's a vibrant orange stone associated with courage and motivation. Carnealion is believed to help dispel apathy and motivate for success, which can be particularly helpful for someone feeling stuck. That should be like the gemstone of this whole podcast. Carnealion Okay Garnet is also helping you to overcome feeling stuck, boost determination and endurance.

Speaker 1:
